On Saturday afternoon I drove to the Buffalo & Erie County Botanical Gardens to meet Phong & Sara. Having worked with them previously, to shoot their engagement photos, I knew I probably shouldn’t expect a super traditional wedding. When Sara arrived and I saw her dress (handmade by her mom, to Sara’s specifications!), I knew I had been right. Sara’s mom told me they went to the farmer’s market that morning to buy the flowers, and nobody had to wear matching dresses or suits. I liked it.
Outdoor ceremony, beautiful overcast sky, lovely details, lots of emotion. Check x4. Let’s get to it!
When the ceremony started, so did the tears. I know that everyone shows their emotions in different ways, but to see people openly crying with happiness was really, really touching.
After the ceremony we kind of rushed through posed pictures because I was worried it was going to rain, but that didn’t stop me from getting some gorgeous shots!
The reception started with delicious food (there was a three cheese vegetable frittata that was won.der.ful), took a few quick breaks for some nice and funny toasts, then Sara changed her shoes and Phong & Sara got their dance on. First dance swing dance? Oh yes.
Gorgeous night, beautiful couple – congratulations and I’m happy that so many friends & family members were able to come to Buffalo and share your joy!!
