Wendy Mitchell Photography | Buffalo Wedding Photography bio picture

Happy you're here!

This site is a collection all all the work (and some personal photography) I've done since January 2009.  Go back through the archives, sort by category, however you'd like to browse.  Stay a while!

A little about me: I grew up in "The Southern Tier" of Western NY, graduated from Falconer High School in 1999, Jamestown Community College (AA in Media Arts) in 2001, and Rochester Institute of Technology (BFA in Professional Photographic Illustration) in 2004.  I have been photographing weddings full-time in the Buffalo area as Wendy Mitchell Photography since January 2005, and it's my most favorite thing to do!  I live in Alden, NY (about 30 min. east of downtown Buffalo) with my husband and our 4-year-old son.

I'm glad you found your way to my site.  Please enjoy looking through my photos, and if you'd like to talk to me about scheduling a wedding or other shoot, please contact me using the link above!

Jeffrey & Amy – October 9, 2009

The scene: Statler Towers, downtown Buffalo
The plan: Urban portraiture in Niagara Square
The reality: I’m not going to lie – not being able to go outside for a single photo was a major bummer for me as a natural light photographer. The elegantly quirky photos outside City Hall just didn’t happen because of rain, rain, rain. HOWEVER, Amy was so vibrantly bubbly that it’s downright infectious and everyone had a blast as far as I could see. Thank you Amy!

The ceremony took place right in the Statler Towers’ Rendezvous Room.

When we went up to the lobby for some formal photos, Amy was walking backwards and got tripped up by her sweep train – she fell down!! I told her afterwards that my first instinct is to take a photo, my second instinct is to help, then my third instinct is to take a photo, because someone else will help. Here’s what I got after my hesitation:

The happy couple, and their happy friends:

Here’s what happens when you let your unity candles burn all evening!

The dancing got off to a little bit of a slow start but after a little while people’s timidity wore off and the floor filled up!

I hope you still love your photos even though they weren’t what you had planned – it was still a beautiful wedding and I loved both toasts. You are very lucky to be surrounded by family & friends who love you so much!! Congratulations!
