Gavin & Meghan – July 14, 2017 | St Joseph Cathedral | Hotel Lafayette Greenhouse Room | Buffalo Wedding Photography

I first met Gavin almost 6 years ago, when I photographed his brother Brian’s wedding to Stephanie (OMG, Abby, you were so tiny!) Two years later, their sister Brittany married Rob and I was there for that too! I met Meghan when she accompanied Gavin to another wedding about 18 months after that, and before long I knew that sooner or later, I’d be doing another Hillery family wedding. When I got the nod to shoot Gavin & Meghan’s engagement photos last summer, it was like getting a call from a favorite cousin – so happy to be chosen for your big day and to keep seeing your family Gavin, and wonderful to meet your family Meghan!!

I arrived to Meghan’s family’s house and spent an hour or so photographing Meghan & the girls in some heavenly, recently-installed central air conditioning. Good call, Farrells! Grandma Shirley and one of the family pups watched as everyone got ready, and when Grandma was dressed, the bridesmaids gathered around her for a photo!

At St Joseph Cathedral on Franklin St in Buffalo, Gavin & the guys were waiting to hand out programs and greet & seat guests.

Gavin was Brian’s best man in 2011, and now Brian stood up with his little brother.

I appreciate it more than you know <3.

I think if you’re lucky enough to get a smile that big from your new father-in-law as he hands you his daughter’s hand in the aisle, you’re doing it right.

The limo took everybody down to Main & Tupper where we shot some photos in front of the Shea’s Buffalo sign – as you’ll see from the reception decor, Gavin & Meghan have Buffalove! We also walked around the corner to the Tupper St bright, geometric mural.

Our other stop was Hoyt Lake in Delaware Park and the Albright Knox Art Gallery. Thanks to it being a Friday afternoon, we had the spot entirely to ourselves except for a couple occasional joggers and skateboarders!

They executed this grand dip kiss flawlessly!

From there, we headed back downtown to Hotel Lafayette. I’m always happy to be back in the Greenhouse Room! As I said earlier, the Buffalo theme ran throughout.

Gavin & his brother-in-law Rob made these cornhole boards with some vinyl cutouts made by Gavin’s aunt. The personal touches were great!

This is Gavin’s sister Brittany holding Brian & Stephanie’s little girl – they also have 2 month old twins!!

Everyone knows I’m in love with catching a picture of the groom absentmindedly fiddling with his new ring.

Shannon’s toasts got some laughs but Brian’s got some laughs and a couple “oh wows” to go along with them, haha.

Gavin & Meghan shared their first dance to “Can You Feel The Love Tonight?” and Gavin even sang a little bit of it to her.

I was “warned” that Meghan’s dad is a ham. Yep.

I have now photographed weddings for three of the four siblings (Abby’s still in high school but I’ll be waiting!!) and I couldn’t be happier!

You guys. You are beautiful people inside & out and I am so happy that you chose me and that I keep getting to see the Hillery family every couple of years. Any time anyone else in the family gets married in the area, of course ask them to consider me! Meghan – your family is lovely as well and I’d like to thank them for helping you guys throw such a wonderful celebration of your lives together, so far and yet to come! <3
