Fall Mini Sessions 2017 | Buffalo Family Photography | Delaware Park

This autumn, I held my first ever day of mini sessions!  Four couples/families signed up and met me in Delaware Park on Sunday October 8.  Here are a few of my favorites from the sessions!

I photographed Ryan & Rebecca’s engagement photos and wedding back in 2012 and it was wonderful to see them again!  They have a beautiful little girl now.

Don & Monique are also past wedding clients!  I met them in 2012 as well and photographed their engagement session that fall, and photographed Monique’s bridal shower and their wedding in 2013.  They have a little boy now, and I loved the “friends” he brought for the session!

Alyssa & Cody met me in August 2016 when I photographed Alyssa’s brother Jamison’s wedding to Danielle.  They got married over the winter (on New Year’s Eve!) and just wanted a few nice pictures together so I treated it kind of like an engagement session.  Since they’re just two adults, we were able to walk a ways and take advantage of several different backdrops!

My final family was Joe & Chris and their two little ones.  I’ve known Chris for 20 years as we went to high school together.  We actually ended up going to the same university (Rochester Institute of Technology) albeit in different colleges.  It’s where she & Joe met!  They got married in 2005 and now have a little boy and girl.  It was great to catch up a little bit!

The following Sunday I offered mini sessions at Long Point State Park on Chautauqua Lake (just outside Bemus Point) and unfortunately only one family took me up on it, but it was great to see my friends Chuck & Lindsay! I’ve known them for about 12 years or so and it’s wonderful to see their little ones growing up!

Thank you to everyone who came out for my portrait sessions – I had a great time with you all and I hope you love these freeze frames from your lives!  I may offer mini sessions again in the spring – if you’re interested in keeping up to date on the possibility, please follow my facebook page – facebook.com/WendyMitchellPhotography – for announcements of special events!

Brad & Anna – October 14, 2017 | Nardin Academy | Garret Club | Buffalo Wedding Photography

Brad & Anna’s smiles give me life.

They arranged to have a “first look” in the Japanese Garden of Delaware Park so they they could go straight from their ceremony into their cocktail hour.  Both families joined them for photos and it was an absolutely beautiful autumn afternoon.

I’m not sure if all of the rings were vintage, but Anna’s band was one that has been in the family for generations!

These smiles.  Really.  Absolutely contagious in the best possible way.

They got married in the chapel at Nardin Academy, Anna’s alma mater.

After the ceremony, everyone walked next door to the Garret Club, where a beautiful cocktail hour was waiting in the garden.  The dining room was ready for stations, and Nik Lite was set up to entertain after dinner!

Brad & Anna and their guests heard multiple toasts, including from Brad’s nephew, and shared their first married dance to Jason Isbell’s “Traveling Alone” which made me so, so happy.

Brad & Anna – your wedding was lovely and so so happy, and I loved hearing about your lives together up until now.  I wish you many more adventurous times on the trail, and am so happy that neither of you is traveling alone.

Joseph & Rachel – Engaged! | Knox Farm State Park | Buffalo Engagement Photography

Rachel contacted me just last week, starting her email with “We would love for you to be our wedding photographer” and I was so happy to be available for their date! They live out of state but came into town this weekend to visit family and do tastings, so we set up an engagement session at Knox Farm to take advantage of the beautiful fall weather.

It was a little chillier than we were expecting (especially for a couple who lives in central FL!) but we got some great shots with her dad’s vintage car and throughout the park – we had to hunt a little more than usual for mid-October but we did find some nice autumn color.

Love love love it when a couple laughs together so easily and freely. Makes me have a great time too!

Hope you enjoyed your whirlwind visit to WNY and I’ll see you again in 6 months! 😀

Jake & Abby – Engaged! | Times Beach & Erie Basin Marina | Buffalo Engagement Photography

I met Jake & Abby at my one and only bridal show appearance! I had a display at the Pearl Street show back in February and while I had many prospective clients swing by and pick up info, Jake & Abby were one of the couples who stopped to chat for a bit. She emailed me later that day and we soon set up a meeting to get everything on the books!

For early October it was still unseasonably warm, but we found some shade, and thankfully it had also cooled off a bit by the time we started just after 5pm. When people pre-coordinate outfits with sweaters thinking “It’ll be perfect for fall” they’re not thinking it’s going to be 75+ degrees that day!

I’m looking forward to being back at O’Briens with you next summer! Enjoy the school year!
