Here is my very first crocheting project. It is the reason I learned how to crochet. The pattern (you can find it here: Park Slope Afghan) caught my eye back in very early 2010 as I walked past a little kiosk at Joann Fabrics. I got home and put up a message on facebook asking if someone could teach me to crochet. My friend Chelsy said she could, and I went to her house so I could learn. When I showed her the pattern she seemed a little skeptical at first (most people learn how to crochet by making dishcloths, or pot holders, or something), but I didn’t want to bother with all that. I just wanted to make THIS.
It is 60 octagons and 72 squares, in 5 colors (all Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice 100% Acrylic worsted weight yarn). I started the pieces in March 2010 and had them finished by May 2010, but I never started stitching them together (what a PITA) until last week. Now it is finally coming together and starting to look like an afghan!

I am hoping to finish it early next week. I love the colors and I am looking forward to possibly making another in a different color combination in the future!

christina - Wow. What talent!
Nicole - Hi there! your afghan looks great! I am currently making this blanket also and am at the putting it all together stage but I am not sure how to go about doing it. I have never done a patchwork piece before so I am kind of lost…Just wondering if you could give me a tip on how you did it. Thanks!
