Not quite two years ago, I photographed Lindsay’s sister Michelle’s wedding, so I was excited to get an email from Lindsay about her own engagement and upcoming wedding! She and Dave are having their reception at Buffalo’s (as of yet still under renovation) Hotel Lafayette in August 2013, and what they really wanted was to do a “then and now” idea for their engagement session and guest book. They went to prom together ten years ago and have known each other for a long time, so they want their guest book to be a “through the years” collection of pictures. It will include pictures from throughout their relationship, that they themselves (and their family and friends) have taken, along with the photos I took last night. They will also be including pictures from throughout the renovation of the Hotel Lafayette, to show what was and what will be by the time their reception takes place! I think it is a really neat idea.
Because of the theme, they really embraced the full-on construction site feel inside the building during the session – dust, worklights, scaffolding and all! After that, we did drive down to the Erie Basin Marina to get a couple “normal” pictures, but Dave said they didn’t need many, because he says they are a pretty abnormal couple. Haha. Can’t wait to see the finished building – I am shooting a reception in that very room in the end of July so it will be exciting to see the change!

Future wedding suite, and dining area in “Greenhouse” reception room, followed by creative use of the drywall dust on the floor in the wedding suite!

The unfinished restaurant, and the expected staircase for the wedding party’s grand entrance.

A great way to finish – a gorgeous sunset over the Niagara River!
