In 2006, I photographed Russ’s sister’s wedding. In the years since, I have photographed her several more times as she & her husband started a family and had two beautiful little girls. Last May, Russ & their mom came along to the session to get a family photo. Several months later, before Christmas, Russ emailed me asking if he could buy a portrait session gift certificate to give to his girlfriend. “Sure!” I said, and mailed him one to give to her, saying I hoped she could wait until spring when the weather got nice again! So this week we met at Delaware Park and walked all around finding beautiful locations, and managed to find a lilac bush that was right at its peak! What a gorgeous day, and I love photographing couples who make each other laugh!!!

Mike & Kari hired me last summer for their August 2013 wedding, but since they live in Philadelphia and I was really busy last fall, we didn’t get around to scheduling the session til now. I know we were all hoping for (and expecting!) warmer temperatures but they were good sports in the 47-48 degree weather (thankfully they packed long sleeve shirts and some light sweaters!) and we got some beautiful photos.

“Aww, you’re not supposed to pick the flowers!” Kari said. Don’t worry Mike, it was cute, and I think plucking one tiny blossom won’t hurt! (This was a genuine moment – I did nt tell Mike to give her the flower!)

Jeff & Jill are getting married next August. Jill wanted to get their engagement photos done “in the fall before the snow comes.” Well, we made it without any snow, but it as about 35 degrees and I was thankful I got to wear my coat and gloves the whole time! They were good sports though and we did a bunch of walking from spot to spot, to try & stay a little warm. Here’s your sneak peek – Thanks guys!

Dan & Rachelle – Engaged! | Knox Farm East Aurora Engagement Photography

Dan & Rachelle live in Rochester and are getting married in Olean at St. Bonaventure University, and they met me in East Aurora for their engagement photos! I can imagine they put a lot of miles on their car. We had a gorgeous (windy!) autumn day and we made the most of it right up until the sun went down, ending when they gave it their all for a sunset silhouette jump shot!

After the sun went down it was getting chilly fast but Dan & Rachelle were great sports about “one last shot. Okay, jump just one more time. Okay, can you do it once more? Really, this is the last time.” You can’t tell but they’re wearing St. Bonaventure t-shirts. Go Bonnies!

Don & Monique hired me and Mary Beth to shoot their wedding at The Statler in May, and yesterday I met them in Niagara Falls to shoot their engagement photos!

Steve & Sara – Engaged! | Cecelia’s Ristorante & Martini Bar | Buffalo Engagement Photography

I first met Steve & Sara at Sara’s sister Ann’s wedding to Owen last October. I saw them again this August when Steve’s best friend Rob married Alison and Steve was the best man. Steve & Sara were newly engaged at Rob & Alison’s wedding and shortly after, they hired me for their wedding next August 31st.

Cecelia’s Ristorante & Martini Bar on Elmwood is “their place” so Sara made arrangements with the restaurant for us to come in and take pictures in the dining room and at the bar before they opened for the evening – fake martinis and all! (hey, they could have had real martinis I guess, but it was only 3:30pm)

After Cecelia’s, we drove up to Delaware Park’s Japanese Gardens behind the Buffalo and Erie County Historical Society where their dog Mitchell made an appearance for just a couple photos at the end!

Thanks for braving the wind with me, and I’m glad Mitchell was a good boy for a few pictures!! See you next summer!

Matt & Katy – Engaged! | Canisius College Buffalo Engagement Photography

Seven years ago (way before I started blogging), I photographed Katy’s brother Rich’s wedding. When Katy got engaged she emailed me and we got everything booked for me to shoot another Bernecki wedding! Tonight I met up with her & Matt and we braved the sprinkling rain in the Rose Garden at Delaware Park, and we also drove over to Canisius, which is their alma mater and where they will be getting married next May!

Adam & Amanda – Engaged! | Letchworth State Park Engagement Photography

Adam & Amanda go to Letchworth State Park every spring when Amanda’s dad participates in the Memorial Day weekend Hot Air Balloon Festival. Adam proposed to her right in the park, near the lower falls, so we did a bunch of walking & stair climbing to get some really scenic spots, including the same spot where he proposed! It was a chilly evening but I think with all the walking we ended up sweaty anyway. We also did the more easily accessible Middle Falls as well – way easier to get to! Letchworth is a lovely spot. If you’ve never been out there, check it out sometime!

Joe & Laura – Engaged! | Buffalo Engagement Photography

Joe and Laura are avid movie lovers who arranged with the Palace Theater in Hamburg to use the theater for photos! Their wedding reception, save the date cards, etc. are all going to be movie-themed so we did a bunch of pictures in & around the theater before also going out into the world and getting some regular pictures too (we used the creekside just off Main St in Hamburg and also Hamburg Beach at sunset). It was a really fun time – I’m looking forward to seeing how they pull the theme in with their wedding!!
