Baby Braden – 12 days old

Back in 2007, I did Josh & Melissa’s wedding. It was back in my film days, so I don’t have much on my computer to show off, but here are a few scanned from prints:

Earlier this month, Melissa gave birth to their first baby – a boy named Braden! I got to enjoy his wonderful squishiness for all of 3 hours on Monday when he (like so many other babies) decided to be wiiiiiiiiiiiiide awake for about the first two hours that I was there. *smile* Finally, Melissa tanked him up enough that he fell asleep and agreed to be a bendy little man for me.

Enjoy your new little man… I am looking forward to checking back in with you as he grows up!

And now for something completely different…

I’ve had my 50mm f/2.5 macro lens for years now, but lately it has been bumped aside in favor of zoom lenses or longer and/or faster primes.

Today I felt like macroing it up. Revel.

Precious, precious Emma

Today I got to go to Falconer to see Dave & Danielle (their wedding photos here: April 4, 2009) and photograph Jackson’s cousin Emma. At 11 days old, she was a perfect model (well, except for when she pooped on one of my blankets, but hey… been there). You guys are so blessed!

A lot of times when I arrive the baby has decided that it’s wide-awake time. Emma was no exception… Everyone loves seeing their little pumpkin’s bright eyes.

I wanted to make sure I didn’t leave out the other children. *smile*

After little Emma went and got a full belly, she went right to sleep. Well, almost.

Okay, THEN she went to sleep. Once she did, she was a bendy little doll and she did a great job.

This photo wasn’t really posed, I just handed her to David while I changed a blanket and she looked so perfect in his arms.

Love seeing new families together.

I’ll leave you with a little smile.

A bouquet of irises

I love doing shoots for old friends. It gives me an excuse to catch up with someone I don’t normally get to spend time with, and allows me to give a baby gift more meaningful than a few onesies and a boppy cover. Seeing Scott & Erin with their new baby girl was wonderful, and I can’t wait to see updates on her as she grows up.

I love how you can see her little fingertips grasping her mommy’s finger.

Having just returned from a year in New Zealand, it was important to show off baby Iris and daddy in team gear.

A thousand congratulations, you guys. What a beautiful addition to your families.

Road trips for babies… Woodbridge VA and Erie PA!

Two of my high school girlfriends had babies in January, and I went to both of them to do shoots. The first trip involved a two-night stay and almost 20 hours in the car because I drove all the way to Woodbridge VA by way of Pittsburgh PA! I picked up a friend on the way and we went to visit Amy & Kenny and their one-week old, Jackson.

Two weeks later I took the day and drove a little ways past Erie PA to visit my friend Chelsy and her new baby Ethyn. He was decidedly less sleepy than Jackson, and a very snuggly boy who was perfectly content… as long as he was being held (especially by grandma!). Setting him down usually resulted in wakefulness and insistent crying, so the shoot took on a bit more of a documentary feel.

I got to meet his very protective “big sister” – she rarely got more than about 6 feet away from him the entire time.

Such a strong little boy at 10 days old!

Very content, snuggling with mommy.

Thanks for letting me come out, guys. Very nice to see you all, and I hope we don’t have to wait so long between times again!
