Wendy Mitchell Photography | Buffalo Wedding Photography bio picture

Happy you're here!

This site is a collection all all the work (and some personal photography) I've done since January 2009.  Go back through the archives, sort by category, however you'd like to browse.  Stay a while!

A little about me: I grew up in "The Southern Tier" of Western NY, graduated from Falconer High School in 1999, Jamestown Community College (AA in Media Arts) in 2001, and Rochester Institute of Technology (BFA in Professional Photographic Illustration) in 2004.  I have been photographing weddings full-time in the Buffalo area as Wendy Mitchell Photography since January 2005, and it's my most favorite thing to do!  I live in Alden, NY (about 30 min. east of downtown Buffalo) with my husband and our 4-year-old son.

I'm glad you found your way to my site.  Please enjoy looking through my photos, and if you'd like to talk to me about scheduling a wedding or other shoot, please contact me using the link above!

David & Danielle – 4/4/09 – Sneak Peek!

After TWO WHOLE DAYS of waiting, I know you all are on pins and needles!! Here is an unprecedented sneak peek of TWENTY TWO photos to hold you over until the album arrives!

Danielle & the girls got ready in the church basement, which has been made into a Youth Center – this orange background is a pool table!

I couldn’t resist hanging her dress up against this bright red wall.

She was NOT used to having a camera in her face all the time, but really, who is?!

She gave one of these necklaces to each of her bridesmaids.

The sanctuary looks different than I remember from when I was a kid (I grew up grades 1-8 in the school attached to the church).

Even though it was NOT hot down in the basement, Danielle asked for a wet paper towel to help cool her off after she put on her dress.

Finally, Dave arrived!

I told them I think her grandpa didn’t trust me to get all the shots.

After the church, we went to Dave’s grandmother’s house to do pictures next to her barn and an antique tractor. It was 41 degrees and WINDY.

Of course the sun came out and the sky became a brilliant blue AFTER we arrived at the reception hall and sat down for dinner.

I always try to take a picture of the groom fiddling with his ring if I can. It usually happens!

The little girls got a kick out of doodling in the condensation on the glass doors.

Some of the guests didn’t make it til the end of the night.

P.S. I didn’t even get as far as photos of dancing yet, so you’ll just have to wait for those.

I am so excited to go through the rest of the photos – the warmth of your love (and the love of your families) totally made up for the cold weather! I’m glad we did those photos with the tractor… I hope you will treasure them forever.

Congratulations again, and I’ll let you know as soon as the album is ready!

Using the ol’ camerabob for FUN and not just work…

During my off-season, I’ve been trying to make an effort to use my camera “just for fun” every once in a while. These were all taken along the side of our road this afternoon – ISO 100, 85mm prime, f/1.8, SS 1/6400 – 1/8000.

I’m looking forward to the spring bringing a little more color, but I can still find beauty in early spring’s muted palette.
