Wendy Mitchell Photography | Buffalo Wedding Photography bio picture

Happy you're here!

This site is a collection all all the work (and some personal photography) I've done since January 2009.  Go back through the archives, sort by category, however you'd like to browse.  Stay a while!

A little about me: I grew up in "The Southern Tier" of Western NY, graduated from Falconer High School in 1999, Jamestown Community College (AA in Media Arts) in 2001, and Rochester Institute of Technology (BFA in Professional Photographic Illustration) in 2004.  I have been photographing weddings full-time in the Buffalo area as Wendy Mitchell Photography since January 2005, and it's my most favorite thing to do!  I live in Alden, NY (about 30 min. east of downtown Buffalo) with my husband and our 4-year-old son.

I'm glad you found your way to my site.  Please enjoy looking through my photos, and if you'd like to talk to me about scheduling a wedding or other shoot, please contact me using the link above!

Dave & Sarah – 4/25/09 in Bradford, PA – Sneak Peek!

I had two new experiences this past weekend:
1) I shot my first wedding in Bradford, PA and although the 219 wasn’t the most awesome ever, we made it there and back safe & sound!
2) I say “we” because I worked with a partner for the first time ever – Kristy of Kristy Lynn Photography. She lives in San Fran and is flying out again to shoot with me in June (Boudoir Marathon)… details coming soon!

Okay, Dave & Sarah, here is the sneak peek from your wedding!

Here is the link to Kristy’s sneak peek on her own blog: http://kristylynnphotography.com/blog – a few duplicates, but even more fun shots!

Windmills – part 2

I went back this evening, not too long before sunset, with a goal of getting a shot that would look sweet in black & white. I think I succeeded:

I’ve reverted to age 17

I completely had deja vu today as I went around the Sheldon windfarm with my camera. I was an intro to photography student again, except this time with much better equipment!

I love the windmills and am a big supporter of wind energy (if you’re in NYS and curious about switching to 100% renewable electricity, visit www.ecny.org) so I had wanted to go photograph them for a while, but was just waiting for the snow to be gone. Today was a perfect day!

What a difference from 50mm f/1.6 to 24mm f/4. My 24-105L f/4 is my boyfriend.

I shot most of these from a really old, tiny cemetery:

When I returned home, Nathan was waiting for me in the window – what a cutie.
